I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, that I only use a couple days a week at work (and when I'm diagnosing my friends and family). I have a new baby girl. I have a daughter in grade school. And I have plenty of opinions, suggestions, and resources. Other moms frequently ask me for information and advise, because they know that I am a fanatic about being a better parent. I do my research. I find resources. And if I don't know, I make it up and still make it sound good. ;-)
My advice is based on my professional and personal experiences, and my opinion is what you'll get in my occasional advice column on this blog. It is NOT intended as psychotherapy. You'd have to pay me big bucks for that. So, don't try to sue me if it doesn't work out. You wouldn't get much, and my lawyer would beat your lawyer. Literally.
Look at it as asking your girlfriend for advice, except without the judgement, jealousy, or fear that she'll spread your business to everyone at playgroup. I don't post any identifying information.
Now, with that said, please email me if you have a burning question that other moms could benefit from as well. There will be someone reading this blog, somewhere in the world, who has the same question you do. Let's save each other's sanity.
