As I mentioned, Chocolate Day was on Tuesday. We celebrated here on the Playground with a cake giveaway. It is now three days later, and I'm bringing you another giveaway of gourmet goodness. Because chocolate warrants more than a day. I'll be lobbying for a celebration of Chocolate Week in the future, and I hope you join me in this most important cause. In the meantime, let's eat more chocolate. How about some gourmet cookies?!!
Introducing: Stony Brook Cookie Co. Wrap your head around the names of these cookies: Super Chocolate Chunk, Chocolate Cherry Jumble, Double Chocolate Pecan, and Oatmeal Cranberry and White Chocolate. No, honey, you haven't gone to heaven - these are earthly delights, handmade with all natural ingredients.
"We use only the finest ingredients...the cookies are scooped by hand from dough made with generous amounts of dark and white Callebaut chocolate chunks, fresh AA butter, sulfite-free dried fruits, sea salt, oats and nuts toasted in our own bakery ovens. They're made without preservatives, trans fats, commercial oils, artificial flavors or colors."
You say you want details about their cookie flavors? Fine, just try not to drool on your keyboard...
Super Chocolate Chunk: Our most-requested cookie. Every cookie is loaded with dark, smooth Callebaut chocolate chunks and enough cookie dough to hold it all together.
Oatmeal Cranberry and White Chocolate: Toasted rolled oats with tart dried cranberries and white chocolate combine to make a new twist on an old-fashioned favorite.
Double Chocolate Pecan: The choice for brownie fans. Callebaut chocolate chunks, toasted pecans and a generous amount of cocoa make this cookie a chocoholic's favorite.
Chocolate Cherry Jumble: Our signature cookie. A rich, crumbly cookie with a delectable combination of dried montmorency cherries, organic coconut, toasted almonds and semisweet Callebaut chocolate chips.
You have to love that in addition to the exceptional ingredients, Stony Brook Cookie Co uses eco-friendly products in their packaging. "Cookie gift boxes are made of 100% recycled post-consumer content, along with paper raffia (not plastic!) ribbon and water soluble inks. We also use biodegradable packing peanuts (made from potato starch) and recycled paper fill in our packing material." They care about my belly and the environment. Now, isn't that sweet? Literally.
Stony Brook Cookie Co sent me a sampler box of cookies, and they were all so good. I just wouldn't recommend sampling them all at once like I did. My favorite was the Chocolate Cherry Jumble - coconut and chocolate make a perfect duo. Husband's favorite was the Double Chocolate Pecan. And my daughter's favorite was whatever crumbs she could catch as they fell from my plate. Ha!
Want to thank a special camp counselor this summer? Know someone going away to college in the fall? Want a special way to celebrate Grandparent's Day in September? The cookies and their impressive packaging make a wonderful gift.
Wanna Buy It? Go to the Stony Brook Cookie Co website. Prices start at just $9 for a Mini Sampler Gift Box, with numerous gift baskets and boxes available. Current special: Summer Gift Box, and includes cookies, a dark chocolate bar, organic drinking chocolate, AND free shipping!
Wanna Win It? One lucky reader will win a Petite Stony Brook Sampler box of cookies from Stony Brook Cookie Co - two each of their four decadent flavors, beautifully wrapped!
