Let's list all the distracting things we do while driving, shall we? We talk on the phone, text on the phone, eat fast food, retrieve our kid's toy that rolled under the passenger seat...Oh yes, that toy, the one that will hopefully entertain your kid until you reach your destination. You will risk driving with one hand on the wheel and only one eye on the road, because, really, is there anything worse than being trapped in a car with a screaming kid?
Here to make your mommy-life a little easier, the Snack & Play Travel Tray, from Star Kids Products. We received one for Munchkin, and I was first very impressed with the quality and durability of the tray. The border around the tray is not very high, about two inches, so the tray works best for low-lying or flat items. The tray attaches to boosters, car seats and strollers in a jiffy. Mesh side pockets holds toys and snacks. And the tray collapses easily for storage.
The Travel Tray "makes travel time easy with a firm surface for snacks, coloring books and toys. Snack & Play Travel Tray enhances the driving experience by providing a flat, safe area for children to eat and play. Every parent knows that when children can't reach items, they become upset. Parents must stop the car, or reach behind in order to get the child the items they want. This inconvenience can cause delays, disruption, and stress. Snack & Play Travel Tray is ideal for short and long trips. Use Snack & Play Travel Tray anywhere you go with your car seat, even airplanes!"
The Snack & Play Travel Tray was created by mompreneur, Alyson Probst. "Juggling being a full time mom and starting up a company keeps this mother of two, Daniel (six & a half) and Matthew (four), quite busy. The original inspiration for the Snack & Play Travel Tray came from Daniel, then two and a half. Alyson couldn’t find a safe, practical surface for him to use when he was in his car seat or stroller. She invented it before incorporating her company in June 2002. She doesn’t do things half way, and that is why her first product, the Snack & Play Travel Tray has received high marks for child safety in actual tests. It took her about 15 months to bring the idea from a thought and design to an actual prototype. In another 12 months, after refinements the product was launched. With five investors, the LLC is 95% women owned... The Snack & Play Travel Tray is now sold by retailers and e-tailers in the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia."
My motto: a happy kid in the backseat makes for a happy mama in the front.
