OK, my dears, after a week of Giveaways and Product Reviews, life on the Playground is returning to normal! Hopefully, I gave you some new, different ideas for Mother's Day gifts, and now I'll go back to listing two to three items per week.
Speaking of Mother's Day gifts to self, allow me to leave you with some very simple, yet very crucial advice (all of my mommy friends know what's coming, because I've been saying the same thing for years): ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT, AND MAKE IT HAPPEN. Some of us don't care what we do, or what we receive, as long as we're with our families. Great. And others of us have something very specific in mind, but end up disappointed because those wishes didn't materialize on our special day. ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT AND MAKE IT HAPPEN. You think it's really cute for the kids to make you a pb&j sandwich by themselves, but what you secretly desire is to go to brunch at your favorite restaurant? Call and make the reservations yourself, if you have to. Your ideal day would just be quiet time alone? Arrange the babysitting yourself. Would rather not get a dozen over-priced roses again this year, but have your eye on the Twilight series instead? Tell hubby exactly where to buy it, how much it cost, and all the details he needs in advance to get it. Go the extra step (and I have SO done this!), and call up the store, and put that item on hold in hubby's name - decrease the chances of a mishap!
The bottom-line is this: you know what you want, and it's not fair to you, or to your spouse or family, to have them play mind reader. Yes, it's more work involved for you to make it happen. Yes, they should know you by now, and what your favorite color is, what your favorite food is...blah, blah, blah. Keep relying on that, and you may be disappointed (even though you'd hide it well). Honey, don't waste your time feeling resentful or bitter about needing to secure your gift. Congratulate yourself for being so resourceful. Hug your family for being so thoughtful. And have a Happy MAGNIFICENT Mother's Day that's just the way YOU want it!

We deserve it! I do that on my birthday too. I schedule some spa & beauty appointments + some shopping and then I'm off for the day, but back in time for some family time.

We go about things differently. We just get ourselves gifts. Saves the time and trouble of shopping, returning, guessing, etc.
